Abstract
Enterococcus hirae infection is extremely rare in humans. In this paper, we describe a case of Enterococcus hirae spondylodiscitis complicated with anterior epidural abscess and multiple psoas abscesses in a 55-year-old man with diabetes mellitus. Despite appropriate antimicrobial therapy, surgery was required. This is the first reported case of spondylodiscitis due to this microorganism. Only two other case reports of human infection by E. hirae are available in the medical literature worldwide.Entities:
