Abstract

High opisthorchiasis morbidity among local population and domestic animals was recorded in 1966 in Alekseevskiĭ District of Tataria. Repeated screenings performed in 1989 revealed besides the above disease cases of pseudoamphistomiasis. 183 subjects have been examined, 90 of them (40.9%) revealed hepatobiliary system damages. Bile analysis performed in 61 patients revealed lambliasis in 1 case, opisthorchiasis in 3 cases and pseudoamphistomiasis in 31 cases. Metacercaria of the above trematode was identified in fish from the carp family, which may serve as source of human infection.
