Successful treatment for advanced small cell carcinoma of the ovary.

Small cell carcinoma of the ovary is a rare and aggressive malignant tumour with a poor prognosis. The authors describe two females, 12 and 13 years old, who presented with advanced stage disease. They were treated with surgical resection, multiagent chemotherapy and high-dose chemotherapy followed by autologous bone marrow transplantation. They remain free of disease more than 9.5 and 14 years since the diagnosis. (c) 2007 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
