Abstract
We aimed to assess the outcomes of cataract surgery in a rural population of south India. A house-to-house survey was carried out in 15 villages. Out of the 156 eyes operated on for cataract, the outcome was good, borderline and poor in 49.3%, 35.2% and 14.1% of the eyes respectively. There is a need to focus on the quality of cataract surgical services rather than just the number of cataract surgeries to reduce the burden of cataract blindness.Entities:
