Abstract

The hedgehog (Hh) signaling pathway was originally found as an organizer in embryonic development. The pathway is now implicated in the development of various tumors. Recently, it has been reported that the pathway activation is resulted from aberrant expression of the ligand, Sonic Hh (Shh), in pancreatic cancer and breast cancer. Here we developed a new strategy to control the activation of the Hh signaling pathway in cancer cells, which have ectopic and ligand dependent activation of the Hh signaling pathway. Our strategy may contribute to the development of a new cancer treatment.
