Clinical application of electrokymography.

F G GILLICK, W F REYMOLDS.

Abstract

The electrokymograph may be used in getting information to augment clinical manifestations of abnormalities of cardiac motion. It is adaptable to the study of other activities in the body such as respiration and the movement of masses. In electrokymographic examination of four patients with constrictive pericarditis with calcifications, the authors noted a distinctive wave pattern common to all. Similar waves were obtained from localized areas in three patients with suspected constrictive pericarditis. Differences between the waves produced by pulsatile aneurysms and those of non-pulsatile masses adjacent to the cardiac silhouette were noted in experimental studies.
