Abortive reaction and time of scar formation after BCG vaccination.

M M A Faridi, Sriram Krishnamurthy.

Abstract

We describe two practical issues regarding BCG vaccination that merit attention. These are time of scar formation after BCG vaccination and abortive reaction. Scar formation after vaccination may take 6 months or more. Babies showing abortive reaction after BCG reaction should be considered different from non-reactors. All health care providers and vaccinologists should be sensitized that abortive reaction is one of the local reactions after BCG vaccination.
