Abstract
We show that optical Bloch oscillations can emerge in waveguide arrays with linearly varying propagation constants. The existence of localized modes (Wannier-Stark states) with equidistant wave-number spacing (Wannier-Stark ladder) that do not undergo diffraction is analytically proved.
