Abstract
Esophageal resection remains the mainstay of treatment for early-stage cancer. In spite of recent advances, these mortality rates remain significant when compared with other major surgical procedures. Several risk scores have been reported, but few have been put to the test with adequate and objective validation studies in high volume centers.
