Abstract
Disseminated histoplasmosis was uncommon prior to the AIDS epidemic, and cutaneous eruption rarely was seen. Since the onset of the worldwide AIDS epidemic, histoplasmosis has become a more common opportunistic fungal infection and should be considered in the differential diagnosis of mucocutaneous lesions in patients with AIDS in endemic areas. We report a case of classic disseminated histoplasmosis in a patient with AIDS and discuss the epidemiology, clinical presentation, pathogenesis, laboratory and histopathologic findings, and treatment options for disseminated histoplasmosis.Entities:
