Abstract
The most efficacious and practical means of diagnosing human schistosomiasis is based on the detection of infection-specific antibodies. Because of their high sensitivity, antibody assays remain the most practical assays for epidemiologic studies and patient management. Initial screening may be performed in the field or laboratory with the FAST-ELISA, using adult microsomal antigens. Species-specific confirmation is obtained by immunoblots with the same antigens.Entities:
