Salmonella Mississippi: a rare cause of second trimester miscarriage.

Anthony Gyang1, Michael Saunders.

Abstract

We report a case of transplacental transmission of Salmonella Mississippi resulting in a spontaneous miscarriage at 18 weeks gestation. The miscarriage occurred 1 week after resolution of an acute diarrheal illness. We recommend evaluation by stool culture for Salmonella infection in pregnant women with diarrheal illness.
