Abstract
When deoxygenated, blood behaves as an effective susceptibility contrast agent. Changes in brain oxygenation can be monitored using gradient-echo echo-planar imaging. With this technique, difference images also demonstrate that blood oxygenation is increased during periods of recovery from respiratory challenge.Mesh:
