Synthesis of pharmaceutically active compounds containing a disubstituted piperidine framework.

Sara Källström1, Reko Leino.

Abstract

The synthesis of pharmaceutically active compounds bearing a disubstituted piperidine framework is reviewed. Due to their frequent occurrence in pharmaceutical research, functionalized piperidines and the synthetic methodologies used for their preparation are of considerable topical interest. The present review focuses on the synthetic pathways used for the preparation of disubstituted piperidines and also briefly covers the activity and/or usage of the same.
