Abstract
The structure of the O-specific polysaccharide of Klebsiella pneumoniae O1K2 lipopolysaccharide was investigated by use of methylation, periodate oxidation, partial hydrolysis, and 1H- and 13C-n.m.r. spectroscopy. It was shown to consist of a linear chain composed of two disaccharide repeating units, [----3)-alpha-D-Galp-(1----3)-beta-D-Galp-(1----] and [----3)-alpha-D-Galp-(1----3)-beta-D-Galf-(1----].Entities:
