Segmental testicular infarction following herniorrhaphy and varicocelectomy.

Carlo Calcagno1, Franco Gastaldi.

Abstract

Segmental infarction of the testis is rare. To the best of our knowledge 36 cases have been reported in the literature. We report a case of focal infarction of the upper pole of the testis in a 23-year-old man following herniorrhaphy and varicocelectomy, treated with conservative surgery after intraoperative negative biopsy. The authors review the pertinent literature in terms of differential diagnosis, etiology and management. Copyright 2007 S. Karger AG, Basel.
