Abstract
BACKGROUND: The risk of developing nosocomial infectious diseases among medical personnel in the emergency department (ED) can result in tremendous psychologic stress. The objective of this study was to estimate the median amount of money ED personnel would be willing to pay for preventing nosocomial severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).Entities:

Fig 1Proportion willing to pay for a vaccine to prevent nosocomial acquisition of severe acute respiratory syndrome.
Circles (O), proportion of subjects who responded “yes” to the question of whether they would be willing to pay for a hypothetical vaccine. Black line, a fitted logistic curve describing the proportion of subjects willing to pay. Dashed line, median amount subjects would be willing to pay.
