Abstract

The authors present a case of a 65 year-old man, who was treated with massive gastrointestinal bleeding. The bleeding source was in the jejunum, as it was demonstrated by preoperative angiography. The histopathology report of the resected tumour confirmed the diagnosis of gastrointestinal stromal tumour. The authors discuss various preoperative diagnostic methods for small intestinal bleeding along with some current issues of the molecular biology as well as the treatment of GIST tumors.
