Pseudoexfoliative material on the IOL surface and development of glaucoma after cataract surgery in patients with pseudoexfoliation syndrome.

Kyung-Ah Park1, Changwon Kee.

Abstract

We report 4 cases of pseudoexfoliation syndrome in which pseudoexfoliative material appeared on the intraocular lens (IOL) surface and glaucoma developed more than 8 years after cataract surgery. The IOL haptic was located in the ciliary sulcus in 3 eyes and in the capsular bag in 1 eye. This report suggests that careful follow-up is essential to monitor the development of glaucoma in patients with pseudoexfoliation syndrome, particularly when an IOL is implanted in the sulcus.
