Abstract
KEY POINTS: (1) A large number of treatment options have shown generally moderate efficacy in the treatment of diabetic painful neuropathy.(2) Tricyclic antidepressants are the mainstay of therapy, with anticonvulsants, opioids and serotonin-noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors also having a place.(3) Head-to-head trials of current treatments are needed. Meanwhile, selection of therapeutic agents should be individualised.Entities:
