Abstract
In this open randomized trial comparing 3-day oral quinine-clindamycin versus standard mefloquine regimen for uncomplicated imported falciparum malaria, mefloquine treatment was associated with a higher risk of discontinuation of the treatment (RR=1.8, 95% CI [1.1-2.8]) related to mainly mild gastrointestinal adverse drug events. The poor tolerability of mefloquine sets a question mark against its use in outpatients.Entities:
