Abstract
The kinetic equation that best describes the intracellular Na dependence of Ca influx into ferret red cells is sequential; whether this implies that there is a conformation of the protein that has both Na and Ca ions bound remains to be determined. Cd and Mn substitute very well for Ca on the exchanger in ferret red cells; this suggests that the Ca-binding site does not contain an important thiol and that the one of the Na steps may be rate limiting.Entities:
