Abstract
Most ocular solutions enter the eye through the corneal epithelial barrier. In order to pass through this barrier, these hydrosoluble drugs require to be associated with a detergent agent to increase topical efficiency. Although these agents have a preservative action, it was recently demonstrated that, after short or long term use, toxic side effects on the ocular surface will occur.Mesh:
