Abstract
We tested a lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) for detecting vitellogenin (VTG) in plasma and surface mucus of copper redhorse, Moxostoma hubbsi, a threatened fish species. The LFIA detected VTG in samples from estradiol-induced fish, though there was no reaction in samples from noninduced individuals. The minimum detection range was 0.08 to 0.60 microg VTG/ml, comparable to other methods. The LFIA has the potential to detect exposure to estrogenic endocrine-disrupting chemicals.Entities:
