Health visitor intervention in postnatal depression.

R Cullinan.

Abstract

Using the Edinburgh postnatal depression scale (EPDS) Ruth Cullinan undertook a study to identify postnatal depression among new mothers in North West Hertfordshire. Following health visitor intervention--which involved six to eight weekly counselling visits--87 per cent of those mothers who had been identified as postnatally depressed had improved.
