Isolation and Characterization of a Virus from the Reproductive Tract of Cattle.

A H Dardiri, V J Yates, C F Helmboldt.

Abstract

From biopsies taken from the vaginal tract of dairy cattle a virus was isolated in embryonated eggs. This virus was cytopathogenic to chick kidney and bovine embryo cell cultures with the formation of plaques on the former. Antisera for Infectious Pustular Vulvovaginitis, Enteric Cytopathogenic Bovine Orphan, Chick Embryo Lethal Orphan, Newcastle disease, Infectious Bronchitis, and Laryngotracheitis failed to neutralize the virus.
