Abstract

This paper describes briefly the techniques and equipment used at the Animal Diseases Research Institute, Hull, Que. for the production of specific pathogen-free pigs. From 23 litters delivered by cesarian section, 190 piglets have been reared. Approximately fifty of these animals were used as foundation stock for a minimal disease herd.
