Abstract
Over the past 20 years, obesity has become a national and worldwide epidemic-one with well-established medical and financial consequences. Nonetheless, the health care industry lacks effective and affordable therapies for its treatment. Managed care knows this all too well; yet it has still demonstrated a reluctance to pay for expensive surgeries and drug therapies. Managed care organizations, however, may have the ability to provide leadership in other ways.Entities:
