Abstract
Muscles and tendons are highly adaptive tissues in response to chronic changes in loading and to aging. A remarkable reorganization in muscle architecture occurs in both conditions together with significant alterations in tendon mechanical properties. This review discusses the possible mechanisms underlying these myotendinous changes and the influence thereof on the behavior of the muscle-tendon complex as a whole.Mesh:
