Diagnostic tests for infectious diseases in the developing world: two sides of the coin.

Tikki Pang1, Rosanna W Peeling.

Abstract

Effective and affordable diagnostics are crucial for health improvement in developing countries but are not accessible to those who need them most. Recent interest highlights innovative technological approaches for overcoming the problem, but these must be balanced by the efforts and research needed to ensure effective implementation in the context of often fragile health systems in low-income countries in the developing world.
