Abstract
We present a 76-year-old woman who developed neovascularization of the posterior capsule 1 year after extracapsular cataract extraction. She had type 2 diabetes for 15 years, with proliferative diabetic retinopathy that had been treated with panretinal photocoagulation. The neovascular vessels on the posterior capsule originated from existing rubeosis iridis and regressed after a single injection of intravitreal bevacizumab (Avastin). The patient's visual acuity increased to 20/40 after an uneventful neodymium:YAG capsulotomy.Entities:
