Abstract
The use of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) for risk stratification for cardiovascular disease is supported by epidemiologic evidence but remains controversial. The metabolic milieu in which hsCRP is likely to be elevated, namely abdominal obesity and insulin resistance, provides a framework for the understanding of the role of hsCRP as well its limitations. This commentary provides a critical assessment of the data in support of the use of hsCRP in clinical practice.Entities:
