"If I only knew:" a patient education program on advance directives.

Abstract

This article describes a unique renal patient education program on advance directives. It explains why the program was developed, the components of the program and their use, and the effects of the program. It is argued that programs like this one are needed to provide patients with reliable information about advance directives in a sensitive, time efficient manner.
