Abstract
The acute shortage of academic radiologists in the United States, and in fact across the world, is a multifactorial issue. A review of the recent literature suggests a number of influences that discourage radiology residents from remaining in academics, including cultural and generational values and their gender roles in our society. This article discusses the influence of gender, generational, and cultural issues on the current and future workforce in academic radiology.Mesh:
