The art of nursing in clinical learning.

Lori Edwards1.

Abstract

The art work viewed during this clinical learning activity was a symbolic representation of pandimensionality. As I looked into the glass sculptures, boxes and pyramids on exhibit pedestals, I was amazed at the limitless width, depth, and expansion within confinement. The colors and shapes repeated endlessly in beautiful rhythmic patterns. I immediately thought of the patients with whom we had provided nursing care for that day. They each had their own reality and view of health and the students had listened and conscientiously perceived the meaning of their needs. This post clinical activity then became a personal illumination of the art of nursing in clinical learning.
