Abstract
Many pathological processes affect the spleen in children. As a basis for recognizing pathology, knowledge of the normal imaging appearance of the pediatric spleen is needed. In addition to congenital anomalies and trauma, pathology of the pediatric spleen includes enlargement (splenomegaly), cysts, neoplasms, infection and infarction. Specific diseases processes, including sickle cell anemia and Gaucher disease, may have specific affects on the spleen.Entities:
