Abstract
We have studied the intrathecal synthesis of soluble class I antigens (sHLA), reflected by the index IH = (CSF sHLA/serum sHLA)/(CSF albumin/serum albumin), in multiple sclerosis (MS). IH was increased in patients in relapse, but normal in patients in remission; these findings show that there is a high lymphocyte activation within the central nervous system in patients with clinically active MS.Entities:
