Abstract
Hepatitis C is a global health problem with an estimated 170 million people infected with this virus worldwide. It is an emerging infection in India and is a major public health concern. The exact magnitude of this infection in India has not been defined and the relative contribution of various risk factors has not been clearly elucidated. This review outlines the prevalence of hepatitis C in various population subsets in India, the association of hepatitis C and liver disease in India and the existing genotypes in India.Entities:
