Abstract
Propargylic sulfides and dithioacetals are found to undergo similar transformations as propargylic carboxylates when catalyzed by AuCl or AuCl3, affording indene derivatives through pentannulation of aromatic rings. The reaction presumably involves Au carbene as the reactive intermediate.Entities:
