Huang Kuan was the first doctor western medicine of who studied basic sciences at Monson Academy in US in 1 847. Two years later, he went over to Scotland, wheve, he had complete medical training and received his medical degree at Edinburgh University in UK. He made great contribution to spread western medicine from West to China. At that time he was known as one of the best surgeons in the east of the Cape of Good Hope.
