Abstract
Immunocytochemistry may be of valuable help in typing most malignant serous effusions. Various preparatory methods are described including centrifugation and smearing, cytocentrifugation, cell blocks and liquid based cytology. The value and usefulness of immunocytochemistry depends on the experience of each pathologist. The use of a panel of antibodies associating markers of carcinomas with markers of mesothelial cells is recommended.Entities:
