Abstract
A protocol for the dehydrative nucleophilic substitution of benzyl alcohols with a variety of carbon- and heteroatom-centered nucleophiles using dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid (DBSA) as a surfactant-type Brønsted acid catalyst in water has been developed.
