[Prognostic factors of ovarian cancer].

Kazunori Ochiai1.

Abstract

Prognostic factors of ovarian cancer were reviewed. These factors may be divided into three categories: patient factors, tumor factors and treatment factors. Among factors related to patients, age and performance status significantly influenced the survival rate. Tumor factors such as stage, histopathology, histological grade and expression of cancer-related genes showed significant impact on survival as well. Treatment factors such as residual tumor size, chemotherapeutic regimens are also important for the prognosis. According to these prognostic factors and therapeutic results, maximal surgical efforts for the debulking surgery along with paclitaxel and carboplatin chemotherapy are recommended especially for patients with advanced disease.
