Abstract

Non-compaction of the ventricular myocardium is a cardiomyopathy caused by the arrest of normal embryogenesis of the ventricles. It is classified in isolated non-compaction of the ventricles (most frequently of the left one) and in ventricular non-compaction associated with other congenital anomalies of the endocardium and myocardium, such as obstruction of the right or left ventricular outflow tracts, complex cyanotic congenital heart disease, and coronary artery anomalies. There are controversies regarding the right ventricle non-compaction due to the normally trabeculated shape of its walls. We present a case of severe heart failure with a complex anomaly: biventricular non-compaction, ventricular septal defect and aortic thoracic stenosis.
