Abstract
Viral infections of the urogenital tract are a potential problem in patients taking immunosuppressive medication. We report a 14 year old male patient with hemorrhagic cystitis who had undergone bone marrow transplantation for the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Attempts at coagulation as well as instillation treatment and continuous bladder irrigation were not sufficient to stop bleeding. Sequential to these procedures, local instillation with cidofovir into the bladder was started to treat a suspected infection with polyomavirus and the gross hematuria stopped within a few days.Entities:
