Abstract
Myxomas are the most common primary tumors of the heart. These lesions contain a gelatinous, ground-substancelike material which has been described as glycosaminoglycan in nature. Using a newly developed, cartilage-derived hyaluronic acid-binding protein and a modification of the avidin-biotin immunostaining procedure, we demonstrate that hyaluronic acid is contained in the jellylike material of cardiac myxomas.Entities:
