Abstract

Straightening and mechanical alteration of the geometry and curvature of tortuous vessel by a stiff guide-wire sometimes results in invagination and shortening of the vessel wall, which has been recognized as the "accordion phenomenon". Long stent may straighten out a tortuous arterial segment. We present the first described unique case of the accordion phenomenon which developed in totally occluded coronary artery in acute myocardial infarction after the long stent implantation.
