Abstract
The authors report an exclusive pediatric review of 89 pilomatricomas operated in 83 patients. This tumor, also known as calcifying epithelioma of Malherbe, is common in the pediatric population and occurs mainly on the head and neck region. It is a benign skin neoplasm usually misdiagnosed and yet the most common hair follicle tumor. The treatment is a surgical excision taking the overlying skin. Principal characteristics and clinical presentation of this tumor are discussed.Entities:
