Abstract
Pathological gambling has received little attention from clinicians and researchers despite prevalence rates similar to or greater than those of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. This article summarizes the phenomenology and associated psychopathology of this public health problem and presents results of studies of 3 types of pharmacological agents used to treat this disorder: serotonin reuptake inhibitors, opioid antagonists, and mood stabilizers.Entities:
