Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is one of the major risk factors for coronary artery disease, which progresses in diabetics at a faster rate and is associated with a worse prognosis. Although interventional or surgical revascularization provide quick relief of symptoms for patients with stable coronary artery disease it has limited prognostic benefit. A multi-factorial intervention, which includes dietary measures, glucose and lipid control, anti-hypertensive treatment, and regular physical exercise does exert a positive impact on modifiable risk factors, improves cardiovascular fitness, angina-free exercise tolerance and is associated with a better prognosis. Neither our patients, nor us physicians or even our societies can afford not to include physical exercise into every persons daily life.Entities:
